My students want to be able to see the year’s worth of content standards (where they are going) at the very beginning of the year, so I divided the entire curriculum up into modules.  The students customize clothespins and they track their progress by moving them as they master the standards.  They’ve even added a bell they “get” to ring once they’ve mastered a module – they ring it and the whole class applauds (no matter which module they’ve just completed), and the student takes a victory lap around our classroom :)!
